OPEN ROUND NANTUCKET BASKETS

Known as "lightship baskets" because they were first made in the mid-1850's by crew members of the "New South Shoal" light ship, a floating lighthouse off the island of Nantucket. Like the originals, ours are tightly woven of rattan, with New England white ash staves and bottoms. Varnished for durability. Delicately shaped ash swing handle is secured by brass pins with bone buttons. Imported.
