No. 202 LADDERBACK ARM CHAIR

Ladderback chairs became very popular in the early decades of the 18th century. These Cohasset Colonials ladderbacks are thought to have been made in southern Massachusetts or Connecticut circa 1740-1750. Backposts duplicate the vigorous "ring" turnings and elaborate finials of priceless originals in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The double front stretchers are "sausage" turned. Hard maple throughout. Shown in Medium Stain; originals were often painted deep red or black. Each kit comes complete with twisted fiber rush and easy-to-follow instructions for weaving. Anyone who can tie a bundle can weave the seat. Height of back 43 1/2". Height to top of arms 29". Height of seat 17 1/2". Seat is 23" wide x 17" deep.

Available as an unfinished kit, a "ready to ship" finished piece, and a "made to order" finished piece.
