No. 256 BOWBACK WINDSOR SIDE CHAIR

Windsor chairmaking in America began in Philadelphia. Indeed, by the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the term "Philadelphia chair" was a synonym for "Windsor chair". The originals of our "bowback" Windsor chairs are typical of the work of Joseph Henzey of Philadelphia, circa 1765-1780. The seat is Eastern white pine. Turnings are clear maple. Bows and arms are ash. Shown in Medium Stain; originals were often painted dark green or black. Height of back 36 1/2". Height of seat 17 1/2". Seat is 17" wide x 16" deep.

Available as an unfinished kit, a "ready to ship" finished piece, and a "made to order" finished piece.
