ONION GLASS LANTERNS
Called "onion glass lanterns" because of the unique shape of their glass, these lanterns originally burned whale oil and were used by railroads and shipping companies in the 19th century. Our lanterns feature a cage of brass wire to protect the glass. The entire glass-and-cage unit is removable for ease of glass cleaning and for quick replacement of burned-out bulbs. Uses one standard bulb; 75 watt maximum. Wall mounted. Entirely made of solid brass. Available in two sizes and in two finishes - antique brass (shown) and dark brass. UL listed. Hand-crafted in a small metalworking shop here in New England.
Because this is not an imported lighting fixture, replacement glass and spare parts are always available.
