The art of applying "sprigged" decoration to fine porcelain was perfected by British potter John Astbury about 1720. A local potter has developed a new interpretation of this intricate technique. Each piece is hand-thrown and decorated; the shapes are consistent, but the applied design will vary slightly. 3-way switch. Shade is 100% Chinese silk. Brass ball finial. Hand made in New York State.
