These handsome red transferware serving pieces are copied from mid-19th century English Staffordshire pottery originals. The deep red color shows wonderfully on the cream background of the pottery. The scene on the transferware pitcher depicts Gothic country villas and two boats (a small punt and a larger Venetian-style gondola) upon the water. The platter features an imaginary Gothic lakeside scene complete with several villas and an obelisk. Imported.
