No. 217KP BIRDCAGE WINDSOR SIDE CHAIR KIT
"Painter" Furniture Kits
While these kits are structurally the same as our regular kits, we cannot sell them as first quality because they have dark mineral streaks, small chips (which can easily be filled), or other cosmetic defects. These Cohasset Colonials furniture kits will look perfect if painted. They are a very good value for people who like their furniture painted or stained a dark color. Stain is not included with this kit.
Windsor chairs have been made in America since the second quarter of the 18th century. At first, they were generally painted dark green and used as outdoor furniture. Later, they were found in both the simplest farmhouses and the largest estates, in every region of the country. Our chairs are copies of originals made in Boston, circa 1800-10. They are called "birdcage" Windsors because of the double bow in the crest. Windsor chairs are light in form, but rugged in construction. The seat is Eastern white pine. Turnings are hard maple. Height of back 35 1/2". Height of seat 17 1/2". Seat is 17" wide x 16" deep.
