"AUTUMN LEAVES" HOOKED RUGS
Hooked and braided rugs became popular in America around 1840. These rugs are hand hooked from 100% wool on a backing of cotton burlap, with an applied braided border, in a design called "Autumn Leaves". The applied border was characteristic of the work of the American Shakers. Matching hand hooked pillow has a zippered velveteen back. Imported.
